Stacking the Shelves #3

Stacking the Shelves
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews - it's a way for us to chat about the books we bought, borrowed, received during the month.

Book Haul

Bought
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa
The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa
The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa
(The whole series was just $27.35AUD which was too good of an offer to pass up!)
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor (I couldn't wait for the release of the US paperback version which would match my copy of Daughter of Smoke and Bone, so I settled for the new UK one in B format instead...)

Gifted (books I'd gotten for my 18th birthday)
Fairytales for Wilde Girls by Allyse Near (This lovely gothic book was on my radar for quite a while and it definitely sounds like something I would enjoy. Plus it's written by an Aussie author!)
Looking for Alaska by John Green (Seems like the most popular JG book out there after The Fault in Our Stars, plus it won the Printz Award so I'm sure it'll be a great read)

Won
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (Thank you to Yolanda Sfetsos and Bloombury Sydney for the giveaway! I remember reading the original online version on Fictionpress 5 years ago so I look forward to reading final product.)

Other
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon (I received a free copy from the publisher at the Sydney launch event and it has quite a lot of hype around it with its 7 book deal, J.K. Rowling comparisons and the movie rights already optioned. Definitely can't wait to read this one)

Ebooks (some awesome self-published NA gems here!)

Unteachable by Leah RaederSpeak Easy by Melanie Harlow

Unteachable by Leah Raeder (Just recently finished it and I loved it, highly recommended for those who have been disappointed with many current NA books out there)
Speak Easy by Melanie Harlow (I was hooked from the chapter sampler and so far it sounds like a well written, high quality NA historical fic)

Great Haul Estelle! It was lovely seeing you at the launch and I too am excited to begin The Bone Season. Although I must admit that all of the hype and comparisons are quite intimidating. I can't wait for my boxset to arrive. I finished Throne of Glass last weekend and I'm now reading Crown of Midnight. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a book I must read and I loved Looking For Alaska. Enjoy!

Thanks! It was great meeting you again last week too :) The Bone Season definitely sounds like an interesting book and I'm quite excited for it. Throne of Glass is also another book I'm eager to read from Bloomsbury. YES YOU MUST READ DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE OR ELSE!!!!!

That is all.

Wow great haul! Your so lucky ad you have a lot of reading to do. I really wish I was able to go to the The Bone Season event coz I would have seen you there with sunny but it was too hard getting out there.

haha, my HSC is coming up in less than 2 months so I highly doubt I will manage to read much except for ARCs until November. Ah, it's a pity you weren't at The Bone Season launch event, it would be awesome to meet you again :) Hope you enjoy the book as well!

The Bone Season was excellent. Usually books with that much hype disappoint, but this one didn't. Have fun reading! ~Pam

Yes, there is definitely a LOT of hype going around it. I'm extremely curious about it now!
Thanks for commenting, already followed you on BL :)

Oh wow, is Julie Kagawa really good, Estelle? I always stumble upon Iron Traitor whenever I'm browsing titles on Netgalley.

I also have looking for Alaska and Throne of Glass on my TBR list. I am planning to temporarily break up with ARCs so I can focus on conquering my TBR pile. *sighs* Have fun reading, Estelle!

Wow, what a great collection of books! I haven't read any of Julie Kawaga's books, but I have been interested in them. I'll have to check out your reviews for them once you've read them! And oooh Days of Blood and Starlight. I didn't enjoy it as much as Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but it's still a great book. Laini Taylor definitely has a way with words! And Throne of Glass! I just bought that this past week (along with its sequel). I'm hoping I love it as much as everyone else in the blogosphere seems to. Congrats on winning a copy!

Estelle said...[Reply]

Yeah, I find her books to be very entertaining (I would highly recommend The Immortal Rules/Blood of Eden series. I'm especially a fan of her writing and world-building.
Ah, yeah ARCs are way too stressful/overrated, especially when time flies and the release dates are sooner than you think. Thanks for commenting :)

Estelle said...[Reply]

Thanks for commenting! I would definitely recommend her books, her writing and world-building has never let me down so far. I would pick The Immortal Rules to be my favourite :)
Ah, I funnily enough I liked Days more than Daughter (both 5 stars) and I absolutely can't wait for the 3rd book!
Yeah, I see ToG and CoM everywhere so I look forward to starting the series... eventually

Hey there! I saw that you followed my blog and wanted to come check out yours! I've already seen like 5 reviews I need to check out, so needless to say, I'm following you on Bloglovin' now (:

Happy belated birthday! I haven't read DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE but I've heard it was a really good series.

It's so cool that you got to go to the launch event of THE BONE SEASON. I got to interview Samantha a couple of weeks ago, actually! I still haven't read the book yet but my copy is somewhere in transit to my house. I'm excited to start it. Anything compared to JK Rowling and is a NYT bestseller within a week has got to be good!

Well anyway, it's getting late here but I'll be stopping by some of your reviews tomorrow! :)

Wow thanks for leaving two wonderful comments :)
I LOVED Daughter of Smoke and Bone and I will highly recommend it! It gets a rare 5 stars from me. Ah yes, there is a LOT of buzz around The Bone Season, especially when it is the first pick for the Today book club. Wow, it must have been awesome to interview the author! Can't wait to finally read it.
Awww thank you again :)
